Yummy Finger Food Recipe for Your Next Party


Garlic, cheese and bread are three simple ingredients that can be found in any kitchen. You can easily turn these three food items into a delicious bread recipe or finger food for your next party. The following garlic cheese bread recipe takes only 15 minutes of preparation time and 10 minutes of cooking time. You can prepare the cheese mix in advance and use it before serving.
What you will need:
- Grated cheddar cheese - 3 1/2 cups
- Grated Monterrey Jack Cheese - 3/4 cup
- Grated Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup
- Mayonnaise - 1/2 cup
- Green onions - 4
- Salt - 1 pinch
- Crusty fresh French bread - 1 loaf
- Butter - 1 stick
- Fresh garlic cloves - 4
Method:
- Hand-grated cheese tastes better than store bought so try and use fresh grated cheese.
- Remove the outer skins of the garlic cloves by peeling.
- Mince the garlic cloves using a sharp knife to get very fine pieces.
- Finely chop the green onions from the white part to the dark green part. You will get nice small ringlets.
- In a clean bowl, take 1/2 cup of mayonnaise and add the chopped green onions to it.
- Now add 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese, 3/4 cup of grated Monterrey Jack Cheese and 1/2 cup of finely grated Parmesan cheese.
- Add the salt. Note: If you are using salted butter you can completely skip the salt as the cheeses also contain salt.
- Mix all the ingredients well.
- Store the mix in the refrigerator for later use. Storing will also let all the flavors seep onto one another.
- To prepare the bread, first slice the bread in half horizontally and then in half vertically so that you get four equal pieces.
- Preheat the oven to 425F.
- Divide the chopped garlic in four parts.
- Divide the butter in four equal parts.
- Take one portion of butter and one portion of garlic in a heavy bottomed skillet.
- Saute on low heat.
- Place one portion of bread (white face down) in the butter and let the bread absorb the butter. The garlic pieces will stick to the bread.
- Remove the bread.
- Remove the garlic pieces from the skillet and add one more portion of butter and garlic.
- Repeat the above steps for all bread pieces.
- Place the bread pieces on a baking sheet or tray and generously spread the prepared cheese mixture on the top of each bread piece.
- Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and hot.
- Remove from the oven and cut the bread in thin slices (fingers) to serve.
- Serve hot.
